MINI POD PROJECT
Year 1,Dec 2016

Overview
At the end of Year 1, we were tasked to handle a real project in collaboration with our school. The school planned to renovate the main entrance and we had to create a mini pod of purpose for the students to use at that site.

Site
Ngee Ann Polytechnic's main entrance/bus stop. A stage and a deck with water will also be installed.

Concept
Instead of having an integrated architecture, the pod is designed in a way to allow for modular architecture to create many unique formations (e.g. floral design, yin and yang) as well as for those in large groups who wish to have private conversations. The color green is used to give a sense of tranquility and relaxation.

Materials
Chair - Timber slats
Wall - Alumina for exterior, acoustic panel for interior
Window - Toughened glass

Purpose of my Pod
In school, there is a trend where students have difficulty finding a quiet and private place to study. Thus, I proposed a noise minimization pod which gives privacy and comfort to users. To fully maximize the usage of the pod, not only is the interior used, but also the exterior. The exterior can be used as a charging station while waiting for the bus or friends they planned to meet.
